The late Rich Levad liked to call the Western Screech-Owl or WESO the Grand Valley’s “signature” bird.  What makes the Grand Valley so perfect for WESOs?  What factors ensure a successful Christmas count?  What has research here and elsewhere determined about out signature bird’s lifestyle?  With nearly three decades of experience, we have learned a lot.  GVAS’s Conservation Chair, Nic Korte’s presentation will summarize those lessons, and also compare and contrast WESOs with some of the other owls in the Grand Valley. The presentation will feature the photography of several GVAS members.
